What you don’t know about Halloween movies

October is here and that means everyone is excited to start the marathon of Halloween favorites. Most everyone has seen the classic ones such as, Hocus Pocus, The Monster House, Corpse Bride and the Nightmare Before Christmas. There are some things that we do not know about these movies and what went on behind the scenes. Here are a few fun facts about your favorite Halloween movies.

The Nightmare Before Christmas
If you haven’t seen this classic, it is about Jack Skellington who is king of Halloween Town. Skellington discovers Christmas town and he tries to take Christmas back to his home, but it doesn’t go the way he plans. A fun fact about this movie is that they were going to make a sequel, but it was rejected. Disney didn’t want a to do a sequel because they didn’t want to ruin the movie as a whole by trying to add another part.

This cute animation is about a groom, who is a corpse, who is practicing his vows in front of a dead woman. She then rises from the grave thinking that she is now married to this young groom. This is one of Tim Burton’s three stop-motion films, the other two were “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” and “James and the Giant Peach.” But what you may not have known is that the “Corpse Bride” was the first stop motion movie to be shot digitally. It was also the first to be distributed by Warner Bros. as a dedication to their executive producer who had passed.

When Marnie turns 13 she discovers that she is a witch. She then finds a secret portal that leads her to Halloween town, and she has to fight off evil to save the town. But what most people may not know about this movie, is that Halloweentown actually exists. Take a trip to St. Helens, OR, the town is welcome to tourists and they hold a Spirit of Halloween all of October. Also, there’s a book of Halloweentown that was never released to the public for unknown reasons.

This is a true classic Halloween favorite. Most everyone knows how it goes: a young boy and his family move to Salem. He struggles to fit in, and after stealing a spell book he is pursued of a trio of witches that were executed three hundred years before. Apparently, Leonardo DiCaprio could’ve starred as “Max,” but he turned it down to take the role in “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape.”
