Fall break. What a glorious four day weekend that is the calm before the storm as the lovely midterm exams approach.

What a better place to spend the long weekend than in Greenville, SC? Whether you’re staying on campus for the break and adventuring around the lively city of downtown Greenville or feeling some of that beautiful October breeze while hiking, (or that hot blazing sun, thanks South Carolina) there’s always something for students to do.

Here is what a few students around campus are doing this fall break. As Christmas time approaches, the least expensive trips for students the better.

Senior, Interdisciplinary Studies student, Madian Estela reminisced an old family vacation during fall break years ago when she went indoor skydiving in Gatlinburg, Tenn. With terror but pure excitement in her face she said, “Of course, I’d love to do it over again.”

Junior, English Secondary Education student, Erin Roof said that she’s attending a COIN concert this break at the Underground in Charlotte, NC. Roof adds, “COIN is an independent pop band based in Nashville, Tennessee. I’m so excited to see such a lively band in concert.”

Freshman, Sarah Campbell, will be going camping with her church family while freshman, theatre student, Ashley Rosa will take a trip up to Charlotte, NC to check out SCarowinds.

According to Carowinds.com, “SCarowinds has over 500 monsters waiting to feed off of your screams, there’s no place to hide during the Carolinas largest Halloween event. Whatever you fear is here during SCarowinds, select nights starting from Sept. 21 to Oct. 28.”

Here are some ideas to do during your fall break in the Upstate:

Skytop Apple Orchard

Pick some apples at one of the most popular apple orchards in Flat Rock, NC. With multiple varieties to choose from, the orchard also has multiple assortments of apple cider slushies, caramel apples and delicious but certainly not nutritious apple donuts.

Fall for Greenville

Feeling hungry and in need of an adventure? Look no further than Downtown Greenville’s fall event called, “Fall for Greenville.” With over 40 restaurants featuring over 200 menu items students highly recommend this event for live music, local produce, restaurants and good company.
