Victories, defeats, and injuries. Some may refer to those as the good, the bad, and the ugly. Others would it a quick summary of week 4 in the NFL.

Let’s start with the good:

The Rams and the Vikings gave fans an exciting start to the week on Thursday with the Rams coming on top with the 38-31 victory. Thursday night games tend to be on the duller side so this was a sure sign of a good weekend of football to come.

The New England Patriots did what the Patriots do which is win with a 38-7 victory over the Miami Dolphins. Great news if you’re a Patriots fan, not so great if you’re a Dolphins fan.

Jon Gruden, head coach of the Oakland Raiders, got his first win as an NFL head coach in 3,591 days. An even more impressive number? The number of days it has been since Gruden won a game as the head coach for the Raiders; 6,133 days.  This memorable 45-42 win came from a stressful overtime against the Cleveland Browns thanks to Matt McCrane’s 29 yd field goal. Read more about this memorable win here.

The bad:

Speaking of the Cleveland Browns, they are back to losing. Although the rookie running back Nick Chubb had an outstanding game with 3 carries, 105 yards, and 2 touchdowns, the Browns still lost in overtime to the Oakland Raiders.

You know it’s bad when it even seems as if the coaches are throwing in the towel, which is what it looked like was happening for the New York Jets. The Jets were down by three to the Jaguars and Todd Bowles, head coach, opted for a field goal with 13 minutes left in the game. The Jets were able to secure one more touchdown bringing the game down to only two touchdowns, but the Jaguars answered back with a last-minute touchdown to win the game 31-12.

The Ugly:

Earl Thomas a safety for the Seahawks had a devastating end to the game on Sunday against the Cardinals. Thomas broke fractured his leg late in the game. Of course, we all hate to see any player get injured but this particular one was hit a little harder. Thomas has been in a complicated process of trying to get his contract renewed with the Seahawks. Yet even with the rumors of trades and him sitting out of practices, Thomas has yet to miss a game for the Seahawks. He even has managed to be one of the best safeties in the league at this moment. He is scheduled to become a free agent if this contract does not get renewed with the Seahawks, which is why this injury has come at one of the most inconvenient times.
