Marco Rubio’s interview goes sour

On September 5, CNBC along with other outlets uploaded videos of a Marco Rubio interview that didn’t go as expected.
In the video, Marco Rubio was conducting an interview with the press when Alex Jones entered the scene. As Rubio attempted to answer the questions, Jones repeatedly chimed in with his own input and queries.
“What about the democrats purging conservatives? The republicans are pretending it isn’t happening, thank God Trump is,” Jones asserted. Rubio played it off as a joke and retorted, “Who even is this guy?”
Jones kept interrupting, hardly giving the reporter time to get out questions and giving Rubio even less time to answer. After Rubio repeatedly denied Jones’ relevance, Jones patted him on the shoulder which caused Rubio to respond.
“Hey don’t touch me again man, I’m asking you not to touch me” Rubio warned.
“Well sure, but I just patted you nicely,” replied Jones.
“I don’t wanna be touched, I don’t even know who you are.”
The situation escalated.
“You aren’t going to get arrested, I’ll take care of if myself”
“Oh-oh he’ll beat me up!”
Jones repeatedly asserted that Rubio planned on beating him up. Eventually, the reporter talked over Jones and Rubio got to legitimately answer a question.
At least, for a few seconds.
Jones kept interrupting and at that point, Rubio stopped acknowledging him and just kept answering the question normally. Jones made sure to plug his website again in this exchange along with earlier points in the clip.
Rubio closed out the interview with, “Sorry I gotta go. You guys can talk to this clown if you want.”
Marco Rubio is the junior United States senator for Florida as explained on his website. He’s a known Republican Conservative and ran against Trump and other republicans in the 2016 election.
He states on his website that his top priorities are:
-
Fighting poverty by encouraging states to empower their people.

Improving social security and medicare for seniors
-
Defending our families by revitalizing America’s military strength. (Rubio’s biography on his website).
Alex Jones is a well known alt right conspiracy theorist on the internet who runs a show and website called Infowars. Some of his most famous outbursts include his well known rant about “bombs.” He also claimed that the Sandy Hook shooting was faked (NBC), and made some pretty bold allegations against Hilary Clinton’s top advisor (NPR).
Because of the harmful conspiracies and hate, Jones has been booted off of several major platforms. Apple Podcasts and iTunes were the first, but it didn’t take long for Facebook, YouTube and several others to follow suit (Vice).
As of September 6, he was even kicked off of Twitter as the Twitter Safety account explained, “We took this action based on new reports of Tweets and videos posted yesterday that violate our abusive behavior policy, in addition to the accounts’ past violations.”
