Conference Carolinas Digital Network

North Greenville athletics made its debut on the new Conference Carolinas Digital Network. The new network was released by the Conference Carolinas on August 30, 2018. The network features all 11 members of the Conference Carolinas (Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. These institutions consist of: Barton College, Belmont Abbey College, Converse College, Emmanuel College, Erskine College, King University, Lees-McRae College, Limestone College, University of Mount Olive, North Greenville University, and Southern Wesleyan University), each having their own channel.

The content will be easily accessible by the viewers. This includes live broadcasts as well as content highlighting the athletes and institution’s success. The Conference Carolinas have plans to use this network as a way to focus on the community, student athletes, and the institutions who are involved.

Conference Carolinas have partnered with BlueFrame technology in order to release this new network. The network can be found on Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV and Roku TV. The network is a live-first app, meaning events will be broadcasted live and easily accessible to viewers. The content will be easily accessible by the viewers, including live broadcasts as well as content highlighting the athletes and institution’s success.

The Conference Carolinas has plans to use this network as a way to focus on the community, student athletes and the institutions who are involved. They hope to bring more attention to community involvement and academic success as well. To learn more about this partnership and the goals of the network, read here.

The Conference Carolina Digital Network has a larger effect on the student athletes more than people may realize. Hunter Crandall, a senior on the men’s lacrosse team, said  “The new digital network gives a better opportunity for family and fans to enjoy the games if they can’t attend. Most of our lacrosse team is out of state so this allows for those family members to watch the game in a higher quality.” While it may be hard to be away from family at times, it helps to know they are just one click away. Friends and family can feel as if they are on the sidelines while enjoying the comfort of their couch.

The network also provides future growth opportunities for the athletic department. Robbie Gawrys, NGU’s Sports Information Director, was asked why this network is important to NGU athletics and the university as a whole.

Gawrys said, “For us it means more exposure. Obviously every game is broadcasted online now a days. But putting those four letters in the corner of the screen and being on that Saturday live game menu means a wider audience, many of which have never heard of NGU.”  Crandall also mentioned how the new network can help in the recruiting process. Being broadcasted on a high quality network can be a plus when athletes are going through the recruiting process.

Every sport, besides football, will be broadcasted on the new network. NGU’s football team has moved to a new conference, the Gulf South Conference. Two of their games will be broadcasted on ESPN3 but all home games will be broadcasted on the North Greenville Sports Network on YouTube. All NGU home events will be simultaneously streamed on North Greenville Sports Network and the new Conference Carolinas Digital Network. Both platforms will have highlights on them. Be sure to check them out in the coming weeks.
