NGU tattoos: What do they mean?

Tattoos are a controversial topic in the Christian community. Regardless of your stance, these students have gotten these tattoos for a specific purpose. Here are the meanings behind these students tattoos.
This is Ethan Clark’s tattoo on his right forearm. The writing is lyrics that say, “You built your father’s tomb on my mother’s grave.” Clark got this tattoo to represent Manifest Destiny during Westward Expansion. Being a member of the army, this will remind him to step back and think about the effects of his action on the lands that are not his home.
This is Jon Kesey’s tattoo that represents the Holy Spirit and calm waters. Kesey got this tattoo after his father passed away of brain cancer. During his father’s time here, he reminded Jon that everything would be fine because we have been given the Holy Spirit that guides us through life. The line represents calm waters, because where the Holy Spirit is, there is peace.
This is Jacob Holcombe. He got this tattoo before he moved to North Greenville. This tattoo symbolizes Holcombe’s faith and tells others that he is someone you can talk to about Christianity.
This is one of Ian Bailey’s tattoos. It is an eagle head in front of the American flag. This symbolizes his character and passion. Bailey likes to be alone but has the character to protect all. Which leads into the American flag which symbolizes power, protection for all and “God’s country’.”
This is Lee Palacios’ tattoo on his left hand. This is a compass and at the top it says “Send Me.” Palacios got this tattoo during his second mission trip to Cuba.
This is Grayson Davis’ tattoo on his right forearm. The saying reminds Davis that God has the power to stop any bad things that happen in this world. But if not, he will continue to praise God through it all.
This is from Mykel Perdue. This is the Arabic symbol for the letter ‘N.’ This reminds Perdue of when the Romans crucified a Nazarene. Perdue relates with and is a brother of all persecuted Christians around the world.
This tattoo is from Isaac Langdon. This represents the times that he was held bondage in deep sins and being told he could receive freedom. It took him a while to realize that he could not receive freedom until he pursued the Father. After a trip with his friend, Langdon grasped the aspect of “Freedom in Pursuit” because by pursuing the Father, he was able to find love, joy and freedom.
