Humans of NGU: Kenzie Pierce

Kenzie Pierce, health science major, was born in Knoxville, Tenn. and grew up in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Pierce said she was always a super active child and was constantly at sporting events for her older siblings. She grew up watching her brother and sister play a variety of sports.
Pierce started playing volleyball when she was 9, along with other sports like soccer and basketball. “I was always naturally better at volleyball than any of the other sports I played. It was the most fun to me too,” she said.
When she reached high school she gave up on the other sports to focus on volleyball. Getting recruited to play in college was the goal for Pierce and since her older sister was married to the strength and conditioning coach at NGU, it persuaded her to check North Greenville out.
Throughout her years playing at NGU she racked up numerous awards and accomplishments. She was conference player of the week, along with second team all-conference her junior year. She was Player of the week once more her senior year with a first team all-conference title and over 1,000 kills throughout her college career. Pierce also received academic all-conference.
“Of all four years playing at NGU, my senior year was my favorite because we finished our season with the best record in program history,” Pierce said. Pierce also helped lead her team in winning the South Division regular season.
Now that she’s completed her volleyball career, she is planning on becoming a volunteer EMT to get patient hours to become a physician’s assistant, specifically in the field of dermatology.
