Last Saturday was the dedication of the new baseball field, Ray Dillard Field, in honor of Bea Dillard’s husband. The men’s baseball team played Limestone and beat them 7-3. North Greenville University men’s baseball team overall is 35-6. They’re doing pretty well this year and are in the Conference Carolinas Tournament. This was the baseball team of 1954; their nickname was the Black Widow Spiders.

You can definitely spot differences between baseball back then and now. The uniforms have definitely changed. Back then they wore real baggy pants with striped socks tucked over them. There are some differences concerning baseball then and now, but not by much. The baseball itself has stayed the same, though no two baseballs were identical. Back then the pitcher wouldn’t leave the mound, now we have switch them out to give them a break.
