The North Greenville women’s lacrosse team has made history for the program in the 2018 season.

The current record for the crusaders is 11-4, the most games won in a single season and they are not done. The Crusaders still have two regular season games against Barton College and Mount Olive University. After those two games, they are expected to go on to quarterfinals and then onto semifinals with the other top three teams in the conference.

The women’s lacrosse calendar starts up around the first week of September with the first practice and does not end until the last week of April, when the conference tournament is over. The fall practices lead up to a fall tournament with hard competition to better prepare the team for the season. Pre-season lasts a couple of weeks in January and the actual season starts at the beginning of February.

The Crusaders started off their season with a non-conference game against Oklahoma Baptist University coming out strong with a 10-4 victory. They hit some rough patches against some teams since their start.

Christy Beaman, sophomore, stated, “This season is one for the books. It has challenged me both as a player and a person to push to become better in everything that I do.”

Limestone College, ranked first in Conference Carolinas, was the first conference game of the season for the Crusaders and they came out with a loss. The team bounced back with a couple wins over Erskine College and Newberry College.

Beaman and the rest of her team face struggles with time management for school and exhaustion throughout the season. “I think we have really grown as a team this year. We have pushed through hard times and rallied together to break records and make history. I am excited to see where the program is headed.”
