Freshman Flourish: Taylor Beasley

Acts 1:8 says, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
For NGU freshman and early childhood education major, Taylor Beasley, her first year on campus was nothing like she expected it to be. Her family has served on the mission field in Lebanon and Jordan. Beasley said, “My first experience being a missionary kid (MK) in Lebanon was a growing experience.”
After Lebanon, Beasley and her family moved back to the U.S. where her dad attended seminary in North Carolina. Taylor said, “I had to get readjusted to American life because my home was Lebanon and all of my friends were there.”
After two years of living the typical American life, her family decided to move to Jordan during her sixth-grade year. From her 7-12th year, she attended a private high school in Jordan.
At her high school, Beasley shined as she participated in the student leadership team, worship team and was a part of the theatre club as well.
Beasley said, “I’ve always had a passion for kids. I love teaching and impacting lives of children. I find so much beauty in that. When my mom homeschooled me I remembered how nurturing and compassionate she was and I think that’s why I’ve fallen in love with being a future educator.”
With hopes of traveling in the future Beasley said, “with a job like teaching, I can teach anywhere. I love that, it is the best part.”
While her family is in a transition stage of hearing God’s call about where to go to next, her parents are living and working on the Missions Board in Virginia.
Beasley’s first year at NGU has been better than she expected and even hoped for. She said, “I don’t know what I was expecting because I never toured NGU before coming, or for any college for that matter.”
Beasley said, “my biggest lesson learned this year is that your friends and your circumstances are going to change. Nothing is going to go as you planned. Start writing down your plans with a pencil, because God is going to erase them and make them His.”
Fun fact. Her brother, Aidan Beasley, is a theatre major at NGU too. He has a role in the Theatre Production of “Beauty and the Beast.“
