This is the schedule of Candace Petit, senior education major on the women’s lacrosse team and president of FCA. “This has been by far the most challenging, but rewarding semester I’ve had as a student,” Petit says.
Petit has been a part of the women’s lacrosse team all four years she’s been at NGU and also all four years the program has existed. She explained that she had already made a commitment to her team and herself to finish her four years of playing lacrosse even after hearing how strenuous her schedule would be.
“Although it is the most physically and mentally draining process I have ever done, the students make it worth it. I have been able to teach 26 wonderful third graders every day,” said Petit. Petit has to make lesson plans to teach to her students every day and she tries to get it all done on the weekends since her week days are so full.
Petit has had some issues with scheduling conflicts. She could not attend some of her lacrosse practices or games because of student teaching. Her coaches and teachers at NGU try to be as flexible as they can be with her schedule.
“I am so thankful for the opportunity that the Lord has given me and proven to me that teaching is what I am called to do. Although I am sad that this season of life is coming to an end, I know that the Lord will continue to allow me to show his love and grace through teaching for the rest of my life,” she said.
