The 2018 season for the North Greenville Crusader baseball squad has been nothing short of impressive as their plays tear through the competition. With a loaded squad and new astro-turf field behind them, the Crusader team seems to be on a quest for a national championship.

The team currently is ranked #6 in the nation in the latest Collegiate Baseball poll for Division II and continues to climb. The ball club sits at an impressive 27-5. Right before the season, the Crusaders were welcomed to a new playing field; a non-grass field that was upgraded to turf field, something most DII schools don’t have. Ever since the upgrade, the team remains undefeated at home. So far, the Crusaders have gained 12 wins at Ray & Bea Dillard Field.

With a possible national championship season on the line, the Crusaders and head coach, Landon Powell, look to keep improving. Here is something the club should continue to do and what they could possibly improve on.

Keep Doing:

  • Jr. OF Conner Grant & Sr. C John Jones must continue to bat over .400
  • Win streak is currently at 10 straight, looks to rack up as many conference wins at home as possible

Things to Improve on:

  • Jr. OF Jeffery Chandler to have another big game soon (CPOW 2 weeks in a row)
  • Mitchell Painter, Ethan Garner and Sal Lovagilo to find their groove
