In the Middle East, violence and terror make inhabitance a near impossibility for many. But with refuge and aid being needed, who has answered the call? The Amish.

Christian Aid Ministries is an Amish and Mennonite organization dedicated to providing care and support to some of the unfortunately situated groups of people around the world.

With the recent events unfolding in Syria involving much of the country become a battleground, many Syrian citizens (including millions of children) have been displaced from their homes and are currently fleeing their homeland in search of some sort of refuge from the hellfire of war.

On the official website for Christian Aid Ministries, the mission of the organization is to “connect people who want to help with people who need help.” Their entire organization is based off Galatians 6:10 in the Bible which reads: “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” This is the cornerstone for their ministry.

The organizations provide several ways to contribute to the cause of providing for Syrian refugees, including food, water and available shelter. Along with that, Christian Aid Ministries is also working with several groups from Lebanon, Turkey, Jordan, Syria and Iraq in order to provide Bibles and biblical storybooks to the refugees.

Meanwhile, in Iraq, the situation is similar. Lawlessness is running abound throughout the nation, and women of all ages are feeling the worst of it. Despite already being under intense persecution normally due to Iraq being a Muslim nation; many Iraqi women are being kidnapped, beaten and sold into sex slavery for the remainder of their lives.

This Amish organization is setting a wonderful example for taking action and supporting the protection of human rights and human freedom for people who haven’t gotten a taste of either of those things in years.

If one wishes to donate to the Christian Aid Ministries cause, they have the option to choose a specific area to donate; to send their money to the most urgent need programs. Donate to the Favorite Stories from the Bible Program, which translates the Bible into different languages in order to reach cultures around the world.
