Starting on November 9, North Greenville will be showing a live radio play production of It’s a Wonderful Life, originally written by Philip Van Doren Stern and directed by Frank Capra.

The production will run November 9-11 and November 16-18 at 7:30 p.m. On the last night, Nov. 18, the play will broadcast on the NGU radio station, Vision Radio 95.5 FM Radio (formally known as the Vibe).

From November 9 to November 11, there will be a pre-show dinner. The dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. There will be live music from Abigail Gilbert, Ashlynn Butorvich and Breanna Jones. They will be singing traditional Christmas songs accompanied by the piano being played by Jonah Losh. The tickets, which are $20, have to bought beforehand. The last day to get the tickets for the pre-show dinner is November 5.

This version of the story was adapted by Joe Landry and directed by Amy Dunlap. While the play portrays the original values and intentions of the movie, it also emphasizes the importance and power of prayer.

There are five actors/actresses (Emily Smith, Evan Hamlin, Austin Smith, Marlee Daniel, Connor Boulet) playing all the characters and a sixth actor (Dalton Giles) doing the sound effects. Losh will also be playing the piano for the production.

Amy Dunlap, the director for the play, said she is looking forward to the production. It’s a Wonderful Life is one of her favorite movies, and she said she loves watching it be brought to life. She also said she loves seeing the human aspect of the movie being brought into the play through the actors.
