World Series game 5: Late night “scoring frenzy”

Rondo Thompson, Associate Writer

Last night was a high scoring shootout in Game 5 of the MLB World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Houston Astros. It went into extra innings and didn’t end until the late night hours.

Five hours and 17 minutes passed from the opening pitch of game 5 until the last walk off home-run by Houston’s Alex Bregman. The game would go to 10-innings with Astros coming out on top of the Dodgers 13-12. The Astros and Dodgers would combine for 25 runs, 28 hits and 11 walks. The 10-inning “slug-fest” would turn out to be one for the history books.

Down seven runs to zero in the top of the 7th inning, the Houston Astros began to rally. From their deficits, a spark from the offense with a three-run homer was only the beginning of the late night scoring frenzy. Winning pitcher Joe Musgrove described the intense game as “the craziest game of my life.”

Ace pitcher Klayton Kershaw, slugger Yasiel Puig and the rest of Dodgers look to regain momentum or face possible elimination as the Astros have taken the past three games in the series.

Game six will be back in Los Angeles Tuesday night as the Astros lead the series (3-2).
