National Pumpkin Day
Sydney Taylor, Staff Writer
October 26 is the unofficial holiday for one of America’s most festive fruits. It is National Pumpkin Day.
The word pumpkin originates from the word pepon, which means “large melon” in Greek. America needs more than one day to celebrate pumpkins. The whole month of October is mainly dedicated to them. Pumpkins are in just about every decoration or food in the fall season.
Some different types of recipes that include pumpkins are: Pumpkin Lasagna, Pumpkin Pudding, Pumpkin Pie and Pumpkin Ravioli.
Other activities that involve pumpkins are picking, painting, carving or dressing them up. These giant orange fruits have been bringing joy and holiday fun for many centuries. Get a pumpkin and enjoy National Pumpkin day along with the rest of October.
