United States President Donald Trump has maintained his presence in headlines internationally this week as he announced the threat of economic crisis within North Korea by discontinuing commerce with countries who perpetuate trade with them. This potentially means that economic trouble could overwhelm the United States as well.

Surpassing recent troubles with the North, trade is still conducted between the United States allies and North Korea.  The North’s biggest trade comrade, China, is also the United States’ largest trading relationship, bringing in hundreds of billions of dollars in goods and services yearly.

In hopes of removing North Korea from the economic world, the United States has limited options in proving itself effective in an unforgiving government such as North Korea.

The Tropical Depression Hurricane Harvey has left nothing but destruction in its wake as it leaves the town of Houston in the great state of Texas and through Lousianna.  From disastrous winds tearing down the houses of those who call these states home, to the overwhelming rain showers that brought flooding to many if Texas and Louisiana communities, Hurricane Harvey brought havoc amongst its victims.

As the hurricane passed through the region, troubles still appeared through other storm consequences such as a chemical explosion at Arkema, a plant in Crosby, Texas.  The explosion came after the failure of the main electrical system due to flooding. Environmental risks also hide in the waters Hurricane Harvey left behind such as sewage and debris.  Flooded sewers are believed to be releasing diseases and cholera in what were once streets in Houston.

As the hurricane completes its disastrous downpour, this tropical depression will continue to leave an aftermath of destruction as organizations internationally gather to donate to the relief of Harvey and its victims.

Thousands gathered in homes, bars, restaurants and schools in the upstate for the showing of one of the biggest fights in sports history. Retired professional boxer Floyd “Money” Mayweather defeated Irish king MMA fighter Conor McGregor in $600,000,000 fight that caught the attention of the entire world, especially one local artist by the name of Jared Emerson.

Greenville local and live painter, Emerson, captured the essence of the fight in the most detailed way – by unbiasedly painting portraits of both Mayweather and McGregor. The canvas paintings reflected the true intensity of both fighter’s goal to become the reigning king of Showtime’s most renowned fight.

Done with Emerson’s fingertips, the canvas is showered with details of both fighter’s prominent facial expressions, including splashes of color at which country they call home.  Streaks of green strike over McGrergor’s face in honor of his Irish background as red is seen over Mayweather’s face reflecting his American descent.

Exhibiting both fighters in all their glory, Emerson has once again used art to bring together the community even in the midst of one of the most awaited and controversial fights of the century.

Football is back in Tigerville, S.C. as the long awaited Zero Dark Thursday arrived.  North Greenville University’s Crusaders defeated the Tusculum Pioneers in a heart pounding 34-33 win. A stressful, yet exciting beginning to the fall sport was taken charge by one senior who brought Tigerville their first touchdown of the football season, Dieonte Bryant.

First quarter ended with a solid 14-point dominance as Bryant brought the Crusaders their first touchdown of the night as well as the first touchdown of Bryant’s senior year with a one hand catch in the end zone. “It was like a surreal feeling. When I caught it and landed I thought to myself ‘I really just caught that’ and we all went crazy,” Bryant said.  “I also thought to myself that it’s still early and we have to keep going. We needed to win the ball game.”

With a rocky fourth quarter, the NGU Crusaders took home the first win of the season with a promising future ahead.  The Crusaders will take on Lenior-Rhyne University in Hickory, N.C. on Sept. 9 to continue their winning lead.
