Treat yourself to NGU’s tutoring services

Sometimes the teachers lecture is confusing, or it can be difficult to understand the subject as a whole. When students are struggling in one of their classes, North Greenville University has them covered with tutoring services.
NGU offers tutoring for several classes such as history, math, foreign languages and even accounting. Classrooms serve as tutoring labs for students seeking help and are available at various times during the week. Freshman Maggie Hopper has used both the tutoring labs and writing center. I usually use the writing center and also the math lab,” she said. I appreciate the help from both centers, especially the math center. It has improved my grades a lot.
Posters can be found around campus that have available times as well as locations for the particular class. There is also a writing center students can go to and have their papers reviewed and have changes made.
Freshman Adrianna Barrett gave her thoughts on how the services have benefited her. The writing center, for instance, has helped me a lot,” she said. Every time I have a paper due, I usually schedule an appointment through the Facebook page that they offer first thing and make sure to have my paper done in that time. Its usually a 20-minute window so its super easy to do. Its saved my grades.
The tutoring labs are free and no appointment is needed to receive help. For one-on-one tutoring, students must make an appointment or they can make one on the Facebook group for tutoring services.
The tutoring services offered do not require you to attend a certain number of times per week, but do limit you to two hours per week with one-on-one tutoring per class.
Freshman tutor for ASL in the language lab, Kiara Craner, explained the process as well. You can come in for French, Spanish, or sign language,” said Craner. “And there is a sign-in sheet where you are able to write who tutored you, and that way if your teacher provides extra credit they know youve been here. And we can go over homework assignments or studying for tests. You can also come in and sit down and talk with us so you can get practice. A lot of the people that come in will just talk.
Several students go to the tutoring labs and use the writing center over the course of the semester. Many have had good experiences with it and their grades have improved since using the tutoring services. Freshman Journie Crenshaw talked about her experience with the writing center.
“I use the writing center because English isnt my strong point at school. Since Ive been here, I feel like its improved my grades. Whats great about it, is that it gives you a second opinion to what you need to work on in your paper. Theyre really nice and give constructive criticism, said Crenshaw.
For students struggling in a class or just need one-on-one help, NGU has you covered with multiple tutoring services being offered.
