No more cramped study sessions, bumping into other students, laying on the floor, or packed bookshelves.
This should be a relief to Christian studies majors and minors. The library reference area for Christian studies has been moved to a new location on the top floor in the room formerly used as a curriculum lab for education majors.
Lisa Hagin, director of technical services and archive assistant, recently saw how the Christian studies majors were living.
“[The students] would have to sit on the floor to study or they would bump into each other,” Hagin stated. “We moved it to the new location so that the books were not confined to only two shelves.”
Instead of merely two shelves to pack over 500 books, the new reference room comes equipped with eight new shelves that makes looking for books much easier. In case one is still having trouble finding the resource one needs, one can get on the computer found in the room to guide them in finding the necessary book. Not only this, the room comes with chairs, desks and a white board to make for a great area to study. The area is spacious so that many people can enter and have independent study sessions. Also, with it being tucked away in the library, it makes for a quieter experience.
Joshua Woolbright, a Christian studies major has particularly enjoyed the new reference center.
“It’s easier to find books and it’s quieter,” he stated when asked what was his favorite thing about the new resource center.
Non-majors will also find the resource center to be beneficial as well. Those who may need a Christian reference may use the room whenever they want, like the Christian studies major.sThe room offers a new and quiet area for everyone to use.
“I believe it will be helpful to others [non-majors] as well,” Woolbright stated.
