Surprise your sweetheart with these Valentine’s Day locations

Adam Kelly, Staff Writer

The debatable holiday, known as Valentine’s Day, bears many clichés that make singles roll their eyes every year. Rather than going to your usual fancy restaurant that will blow a hole in your wallet, take your sweetheart to one of these places that will make them beg you to take them back.

Greenville Zoo

Having just reopened this past Saturday, the Greenville Zoo can be a creative place to rekindle your romance. With exhibits ranging from Africa to Asia, there is plenty to see with your dearest this Valentine’s Day. The trip will be even better if the sun is out because the zoo will feature new exhibits under certain weather conditions.

The Rock Quarry Garden (in Cleveland Park)

Nestled in a secluded part of Cleveland Park is the Rock Quarry Garden, a quaint place to unwind and relax. The location is perfect for a romantic picnic in the park. Many couples have weddings here as well. Check it out and see if it could be a potential venue!

The Donut Experiment

Instead of a full course meal, why not have a dozen donuts? The Donut Experiment has plenty of options to fill your sugar-craving needs. Located in a shopping center in Greenville, there are plenty of other shops to visit after getting your donut fix. You can even get bacon on your donut!

 Full Wall Mural

Near Falls Park on the Reedy, this beautiful mural covers an entire side of a brick wall. Have a photoshoot with your sweetheart that you can share to your single friends on Instagram and Facebook. With enough empty space in front of the mural, it serves as another great place to have a romantic suburban dinner downtown.

Meredith Piper Art

If you are interested in an artistic trip this Valentine’s Day, take your dearest down River Street near the brick infrastructure. You will never run out of paintings to inspect as multiple art galleries sit next to each other on the strip. Meredith Piper Art is one of the more well-known galleries that holds several paintings of people and animals alike.

The Children’s Garden (Linky Stone Park)

With multiple structures painted with the ABC’s and the colors of the rainbow, it is definitely reminiscent of childhood and innocence. After walking through the garden, you can sit on one of the benches and talk to your significant other about childhood memories.
