The new magazine is out
John Peardon, Staff Writer
The newest edition of the Vision Magazine is now available on shelves throughout the campus of North Greenville, and its free.
With a title of “Cultivating Compassion,” the issue features stories from NGU students like Gloria Biggers, Victoria Pujdak, Emily Artus, Alex Miller, Carson Myers, Carrie Henderson and Megan Conley.
The issue is decorated with hexagon shapes throughout the pages, expressing a theme of connectivity and community, because community is what connects humanity together.
Alex Miller, editor of the Vision, says a lot of effort when into making the theme of the magazine consistent. I wanted this to be about what community really is, said Miller. It is people that are connecting despite our interests, because that is what Christ does for us. He loves us despite our political party or what we look like.
Miller also played a big role in the design process of the issue, and says it pushed her out of comfort zone. Tim Artus [graphic artist in NGU’s Media Center] helped me a lot on InDesign, she said. I was someone who felt like a fish out of water, and he was extremely helpful to me.
Overall, she feels like it was a big accomplishment for the Vision staff. I wanted it to look fresh and inviting to the eyes, and I feel like we accomplished that well.
Victoria McNorrill, the artistic director for the Vision, says the consistent design layout of the magazine helped to enhance the theme of the issue. I added the hexagons as a symbol of unification, said McNorrill. Our stories come to life through design. Thats how I like to look at the process.
Victoria Pujdak, a staff writer for the Vision, says the staff for the Vision not only preached community in this issue, but worked together as a community. The magazine is such a group effort, says Pujdak. We are an integrated family.
