Students are going global at North Greenville University. They are packing up their Christmas break, and heading to Uganda to tell people about Jesus.

Jody Jennings, Baptist Student Union pastor at NGU, runs an organization called Macedonia Call Ministries. MCM partners with people in Cuba and Uganda, along with local organizations throughout the U.S. There are several trips taken throughout the year and support is raised for the communities when there are no missionaries in the field. The group will be partnering with MCM and is being lead by Jennings’ wife, Emily.

While over there, they will be partnering with Hoima Baptist Fellowship Church to serve the community. They will also work with an orphanage sponsored by the church. “We will work with the locals in putting on VBS for the kids, holding a basketball clinic, and doing door-to-door evangelism,” said Kaley Grace, junior at North Greenville.

They will also be learning what it is like to live as missionaries so they will be spending time engaging in conversation and investing time in the people. They will be holding a women’s conference for the women of the church. Grace said, “We are expecting 50-75 women and are excited about the opportunity to designate a couple days to serve them and worship our Creator together.”

Glenna Hallinan, senior psychology major, said, “I’m most excited to see my friends and the people I’ve met there. The people I have built relationships with have easily become my best friends. I can’t wait to see them.” Their main goal is to be intentional in creating relationships and loving the people.

Students are raising money in various ways. Many have taken to designing and selling their own t-shirts. Others have held dinners, had money donated or had fundraisers through various businesses.
