What has happened since the Cubs last won a World Series

It may come as a surprise to some, but the Cubs have made it to the World Series in the past. The last time they won the series of games was in 1908. That was over 100 years ago. Much has happened throughout the course of history, so here’s 10 events that have occurred to stress how long it has been since the Cubs have made a positive hit.
1. The first radio news program broadcasts
On Aug. 31, 1920, radio station 8MK in Detroit, MI broadcasted. It is currently owned by CBS and functions today as as an all-news station known as WWJ.
2. TV invented
In 1927, the first successful demonstration of an electronic television was given by Philo Taylor Farnsworth. He was 21 years old when he made his discoveries and ironically lived in a house without electricity until he was 14.
3. NBA, NHL and NFL are formed
The National Hockey League was the first to be created in 1917 in Montreal, Canada. In 1920, and the National Football League was formed in Canton, OH. Soon to follow, the National Basketball Association started, but was first known as the BBA. It officially became the NBA in 1949.
4. The U.S. fought in seven wars
The U.S. fought in World War I, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Persian Gulf War, Iraq War and Afghanistan War. This country was kept quite busy but was able to maintain baseball as a cherished passtime.
5. Man landed on the moon
On July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed the lunar module Eagle on the moon. Armstrong became the first man to walk on the moon, soon followed by Aldrin. Talk about a giant step for mankind.
6. Titanic built, set sail, sank and was rediscovered
The Titanic, once a wonder on water, was first built on March 31, 1909. It set sail on April 10, 1912, amazing the world. It shortly sank on April 14, encountering the icy terrain of the sea. Then on Sept. 1, 1985, it was rediscovered.
7. Wrigley Field was built
On April 23, 1914, Wrigley Field was built in Chicago. It is home of the Chicago Cubs, one of the citiy’s two major league teams. It is the second-oldest ballpark, right behind Boston’s Fenway Park.
8. Cubs played almost 15,000
The Chicago Cubs played almost 15,000 regular-season games and lost the majority of them. They partook in 11 world series, only winning two. This year they are really making a comeback, surprising baseball fans everywhere. Those who have managed to keep up with the struggling Cubs are finally getting a chance.
9. First expedition to reach South Pole
Dec. 14, 1911, a team of Norwegian explorers reach the South Pole, five weeks before another party. Everyone in the Norwegian group made it safely back to their base but discovered that everyone in the British group had died on their adventure back.
10. Jazz was in its infancy
It is speculated that jazz was born in 1917 in African American communities of New Orleans. Jazz encompasses over a hundred years of different music styles and has introduced many prominent musicians such as Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington.
