NGU freshman Christian Gianni wanted a part-time job, but he didnt want to work at a restaurant or grocery store like most college students. He would rather work at a place like Hotel Hell or Pinehurst Asylum at Mad World Haunted Attractions in Spartanburg, S.C.

This fall, I applied for a job at Mad World, said Gianni. Its an indoor/outdoor haunted house. Its the largest haunted house in South Carolina.

Gianni, a graduate of Southside Christian School in Spartanburg thinks he gets to have more fun at work than most of his peers. Mad World is only open for a few weeks during the fall around Halloween. Many employees such as Gianni use their acting skills to terrorize thrill-seekers as they try to escape the haunted house.

I used to stand in a corner and brandish a machete at people as they walked around a corner, and now I operate a suspended bridge.

Although Gianni admitted he doesnt make a lot of money, he said he loves working in an environment where employees get to know each other and have common interests.

The thing I like most about working at Mad World is that we are a family, said Gianni.

Gianni isnt sure what career path he will take when he graduates, but he definitely wants to work at Mad World next year.
