Zumba class has made its way onto the campus of North Greenville University.

Zumba is a type of workout that involves dancing while increasing cardiovascular fitness. Although it includes dancing, it has been approved by the administration for a new way to work out.

Sarah Flook, a health and wellness junior, teaches a class in Younts Fitness Gym on Monday and Wednesday nights. She got this opportunity because she believes that Zumba is a great workout and is able to teach this class as a part of her work-study.

Women go to this class because it is a nice way to be active while also having fun. Stevie Martin, a junior, had never taken Zumba class before the class was offered here. “It’s a fun work out. It’s a great group of girls and you get to let loose and be silly without anyone laughing at you,” she said.

Because this class is just for women, it is easier to have fun because they don’t have to worry about the dance moves without the pressure of “gym-buffs” watching. “Zumba is a great cardio workout that is super fun and stress-relieving,” said Flook.
