Asha Durrah, a senior history major at North Greenville University from Spartanburg, S.C., completed the CWP (concealed weapons permit) class with a perfect score June 18, 2016.  At the age of 22, she accomplished this without practicing beforehand.

“I felt like the test was too easy and anybody can pass it if they have common sense, or have watched the Andy Griffin show,” said Durrah with a smile.

Darnell Durrah, former Marine gunny and Asha Durrah’s father, taught her all about the Armed Forces and firearms and encouraged familiarity and experience. This helped her complete such a high score on her CWP test.

“Growing up I would yell ‘muzzle awareness’ at the TV and my dad would laugh. Gun safety was just common knowledge. An understood concept,” said Durrah.

Durrah is a huge supporter of the Armed Forces.

“Being the daughter, niece, cousin and best friend of members of the Armed Forces has been the greatest part of my life,” said Durrah.

Durrah continued to show her appreciation for the Marine Corps by singing the national anthem at the Marine Corp Ball at the ages of 19 and 20.
