NGU senior soccer profile: Johnny Lind
Michael Blackwood, Staff Writer
Johnny Lind is a senior Health Science major who has been playing soccer for North Greenville University since his freshman year. Lind’s favorite memory as an NGU Crusader is scoring three goals during his first two games.
Lind, who has been playing soccer since he was five, grew up in High Point, N.C. Along with soccer, the student-athlete’s faith has always been a key aspect of his life, as Lind has always attended church with his family and became Christian at the age of 9. His family, and more specifically, his brothers discipled him and helped him to grow in his faith.
Lind stated that Ephesians 1 and 2 were his favorite passages in the Bible. He explained his choice of scripture by stating, “The passages talk about how God has everything to do with our salvation.”
Lind decided to attend NGU after talking to his older brother who graduated in 2011.
I came and visited I think I came three times before I came here, and soccer was a huge part of it I ended up loving the campus, loving the teachers,” said Lind.
Lind is excited about this up-coming season with the Crusaders. With a new head coach leading the soccer program, Lind feels that this year’s team could finish in the top five of the conference.
When asked what advice he would give to future Crusader athletes, Lind responded, Continue to strive to be the best you can even though we’re not the biggest school . . . Dont give up.
