North Greenville student tries “Daniel diet”

Carrie Henderson, Staff Writer

When you think of Daniel in the Old Testament, you probably automatically picture the story of Daniel and the lions’ den. You might not connect Daniel with a diet..the Daniel diet.

North Greenville student Carli Frady tried the Daniel diet for a week and wrote an article published in the upcoming Vision magazine about her experience.

According to the article “Daniel’s Diet” on danielsdiet.com, the diet is based off of Daniel’s diet  in Daniel Chapter 1 and gets back to the foundation of faith and healing.

On the Daniel diet, Frady said she fasted from meat and bread, eating mostly fruit and vegetables, and didn’t drink anything but water.

“I ate a lot of green beans,” she said.

She said she spent time preparing for the diet in prayer. Before going on the fast, she said she picked two specific things to pray for: wisdom and obedience.

She also said she spent a lot of time in prayer while on the diet.

“I look to food for comfort a lot. What that fast helped me do was find my comfort in God. Whenever I was feeling upset or discouraged or happy just go to the Bible,” Frady said.

She said that during the fast she had a more intimate relationship with God. During her free time, she said she would read her Bible and she was constantly in prayer throughout the day.

The fast not only helped her spiritually, Frady said she also felt a lot healthier physically too.

“The first thing I ate after the diet was pizza,” Frady said. “As soon as I ate. . . the bread, I could just feel it. I felt sluggish, just tired; I wanted to take a nap.”

She said the Daniel diet balances and cleanses your system.

“You notice what you intake,” she said.

So, if you are looking for a way to strengthen yourself physically and spiritually, consider taking on the Daniel diet and be on the look out for the full length story about Frady’s experience in the upcoming issue of the Vision Magazine.
