This past week, residents from across the state flocked to the polls to vote in the Republican and Democratic primaries. Workers from different campaigns made cold calls, put up signs and canvased for the events. The winners of the primaries were Donald Trump for the Republican Party and Hillary Clinton for the Democratic Party.

Greenville zoo has recently announced that the baby monkey, born Feb. 16 to Valentino (Father) and Nuru (Mother), has died. A necropsy will be performed to determine the cause of the sudden death. Because of the loss of her first child, zookeepers are monitoring Nuru’s behavior closely for signs of depression. The zoo and guests grieve, having shared in the baby’s joyous welcome.

Election year sets the stage for not just candidates, but citizens to speak on the national stage.  It is a fantastic time of trading ideas, hopes for America and aspiring presidential candidates. Yet, with so many voices, it often requires some interesting avenues to be heard. Jerry Slankard, an Ohio farmer, was determined to be heard when he used cow manure, from his own cattle, to spell “NO TRUMP” in big enough letters for passing planes to clearly see. Slankard devoted four hours to this task showing his extreme disdain for the candidate. Slankard said that Trump’s deportation proposal would cripple the agricultural industry.
