North Greenville students reminded, “You have a story”

You have a story.
You have a story that is not really just your story, but God’s story, said Michelle Galyean, speaker at the “You Have a Story” event at North Greenville University on Feb. 16, hosted by Melanie Ratcliffe.
Galyean read the lyrics of Big Daddy Weave‘s song “My Story,” which say “To tell you my story is to tell of Him [God].”
Galyean told her own story of adopting her sons Benjamin and Anderson.
Even before Galyean and her husband adopted their boys, God was taking care of them, she said.
For example, the day before Benjamin was born in Guatemala, the Lord laid it on Galyean’s heart to pray for the boy her and her family would be adopting, she said.
The next day, Benjamin was born in a bamboo-shoot latrine, where his mother was going to throw him in the hole and abandon him, already having four children, no husband and no job.
However, some village grandmothers saved him, and he ended up being adopted by the Galyean family.
Through her story of adopting her sons, she said that, in the same way, God adopts us as his children.
Galyean shared Romans 8:17, which says that we are not only God’s children but also co-heirs with Christ.

The audience at Tuesday night’s event broke off into small groups and learned a process to share their own story, using the booklet “3 Circles: Life Conversation Guide” and the form God’s Design, Sin, Brokenness, Repent and Believe, Gospel and Recover and Pursue God’s Design.
“God is working an amazing story in your life. Don’t be afraid to share it,” Galyean said.
