Things to do if You’re Single on Valentine’s Day

Gabrielle Fanelli, Staff Writer

What do you think of when you hear the words Valentine’s Day? For some, the phrase gives a warm tingly feeling of happiness, but, for others, it is a phrase to fear. Typically, a boyfriend and girlfriend go out on a romantic date and exchange gifts as they stare deeply into one another’s eyes (just reading this might make a few of you sick.) If you’re that single person who has no idea what to do for this so-called lover’s holiday, don’t worry, you’re not alone. After interviewing a few single girls and guys on our campus at North Greenville University about their plans, we have some ideas you’ll adore this Valentine’s Day.

1) Grab your single friends and go see a movie or production downtown.

“I’m going to see “Pride and Prejudice Zombies” with a group of my also single girl friends,” said Gloria Biggers.

  2) If you enjoy photography and want to make some extra money off of those madly-in-love couples on campus, this idea is perfect. Get the word out about a Valentine’s Day photo shoot for a good price.

“Well I’m doing a photo shoot for my brother and his girlfriend on Saturday, but I think I’m gonna go to a nice dinner and a movie, so basically a date by myself,” said Jordan Moore.

 3) Take a weekend trip to a beach in the Carolinas with your friends and don’t forget to support your NGU lacrosse teams.

“We have a lacrosse game in Florida so that and the beach,” said Zachary Randolph.

4) If you want to make this Valentines Day really count, you can spread the love whether you’ve actually got one or not.

”Last Valentine’s Days I wrote down Bible verses about love, went downtown, and passed them out to people,” said Hanna Ford.
