Any student who walks into the cafeteria this semester will notice something very big is taking place. Behind the giant plastic sheets and underneath the sound of power tools, North Greenville University‘s Todd Dining Hall is getting a remodel.
The company Food Service Renovations is in charge of the remodel and is working alongside the Campus Enrichment Services to complete the project. It is based out of Morrow, Ga. and specializes in renovating kitchen and food spaces in schools and restaurants.
Paul Epting, Director of Maintenance and Construction and Campus Enhancement Services, said,”What you see now is phase one, which will be a new salad and deli station over in that corner. It is supposed to be wrapped up at the end of this month or towards the first of March.”
The project focuses on revamping the cafeteria space and, when completed, will provide a new dining experience for students.
“It’s definitely going to look different and it’s going to be a very nice face-lift. But it’ll be more up to date and more modern,” said Epting.
In addition to the current renovations, there are three other phases in the works.
“Right now they are planning on starting phase two during spring break, and that will be putting down new carpet and running new gas lines for the new kitchen components,” said Epting.
The project will continue throughout the summer and will hopefully be completed before fall semester.
“Phase three will be after graduation in May and will run the whole month until right about Centrifuge. It will be reworking all of our food stations and beverage stations. Phase four will begin towards the end of July once Centrifuge is over and will run till school begins,” said Epting.
Epting shared his hopes that the project will bring enjoyment to the students.
“Lord willing, they’ll be finished when everyone gets back and it’ll be an exciting thing for the students to enjoy,” said Epting.
