7 local must see plays this Fall in Greenville

Looking for things to do this fall? There are a lot of plays coming to Greenville that are worth seeing! Here are a seven that we suggest:
1. Jersey Boys

Oct. 27 – Nov. 1
Presented by the Peace Center at Peace Concert Hall, Jersey Boys is an award-winning play about rock and roll hall of famers, Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi. It is a true story of how four blue-collar kids became some of the greatest successes in music history. The musical group wrote their own songs, invented their own sound and sold over 175 million records worldwide – all before they were 30-years-old.
2. Hamlet

Nov. 16 – 17
Presented by the Peace Center at Gunter Theatre, the infamous Hamlet will be coming to Greenville, S.C. Written in 1599, Hamlet is still performed today. It examines how young adults are shaped by the confusing, ever-changing world around them and the day-to-day choices they are forced to make. Tickets are $10.
3. Motown the Musical

Nov. 24 – 29
Presented by the Peace Center at Peace Concert Hall, Motown the Musical tells the story of Motown founder Berry Gordy’s journey from featherweight boxer to heavyweight music phenomena who launched the careers of stars like Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, and Smokey Robinson. The genre shattered barriers, shaped lives and got people grooving to the same beat. Tickets start at $25.
4. The Nutcracker

Dec. 11 – 13
Presented by the International Ballet at the Peace Concert Hall, The Nutcracker will return to Greenville, showcasing dancers from the Upstate and the grand score of Tchaikovsky. The Nutcracker will have live accompaniment by The Greenville Symphony Orchestra. Tickets start at $15 and run time is 111 minutes, including intermission.
5. Disney’s Newsies

Dec. 29 – Jan. 3
Presented by the Peace Center at Peace Concert Hall, Disney’s Newsies is filled with one heart-pounding musical number after another. The musical is a high-energy expression of song and dance you do not want to miss. Based on true events, Newsies tells the captivating story of a band of underdogs who become unlikely heroes when they stand up to the most powerful men in New York. It’s a rousing tale about fighting for what’s right and staying true to who you are. Tickets are $25.
6. The 39 Steps

Oct. 30 – Nov. 14
Presented by Greenville Little Theatre, The 39 Steps, based on the novel by John Buchan, is an adaptation of Alfred Hitchcock’s 1935 film. The play is fast, funny, intriguing and romantic. The forces of The 39 Steps are out for Richard Hannay, the unsuspecting target of a ring of spies. Hannay is forced to go on the run. He encounters plane crashes, train chases and a little romance, until finally he must save his own life. The 39 Steps is a Tony award-winning comedy and is a must see for anyone who loves the magic of theatre. Ticket information can be found at greenvillelittletheatre.org.
7. A Christmas Carol

Presented by Greenville Little Theatre, the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future will return to Greenville this year in A Christmas Carol. Adrian Hall’s adaptation of this classic tale, puts the audience face to face with Scrooge’s pride and sorrow, but above all, joy. Rewind the clock and come kindle your Christmas spirit.
