Now a full-blown international study site, this app contains free study aids on almost everything. It is mostly thought of as a flashcard app, but it actually provides a wide variety of tools for high school and college courses. It includes audio pronunciation, quizzes, games and flashcards.

2. StudyBlue (free for iPhone and Android)

This app is also for high school and college students. This app offers tools to help memorize class work. Create your own quizzes, flashcards and share flashcards with other students. StudyBlue also has the capability to link text from Evernote into the app.

3. Evernote (free for iPhone and Android)

The most popular and highly acclaimed app for taking notes. It offers quick ways to jot down important information and highlight specific text. This app takes advantage of the ability to sync notes to your laptop or tablet from those on your phone.

4. EasyBib (free for iPhone and Android)

This app takes care of the final stage of any essay that most writers despise, the bibliography. A student can scan the barcode of any book and the app will offer a citation according to MLA, APA or Chicago Manual of Style guidelines, as well as many other styles. If the book has no barcode, simply enter the title to search for the correct book.
