Steve Crouse, New Director of Christian Ministries Scholarship Fund

Lane Koch, Staff Writer

This semester, Steve Crouse, Vice President for Campus Ministries, will be taking on the position of Director of the Christian Ministries Scholarship Fund(CMSF).

In 1997, 85 charter members set up the CMSF, an endowment with the purpose of financially assisting future ministers in receiving an education. Today, the endowment contains over $3 million.

“[CMSF] is equipping the next generation of pastors, church planters, youth ministers, worship leaders, missionaries and other ministers by helping them to be able to afford an education,” said Crouse.

CMSF is funded by one time donors and members, who join by donating a minimum amount of $150 annually. Members enjoy three dinners a year where they can hear from several scholarship recipients.

Members join for a multitude of reasons. Some members are past recipients who wish to help equip others as they were, while others, who may have never received the scholarship, are inspired by it’s purpose and choose to join or donate.

“We view the organization as a way to give back to God for all that He has done for us and as an avenue to help equip the next generation of ministers,” Crouse said of he and his wife.

To apply for the scholarship, students must be enrolled full time and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5. Candidates are interviewed by the CMSF committee, where they are asked to give their testimony and ministry aspirations.

Students will be chosen based on their application, interview and the availability of funds.

Recipients of the scholarship must attend annual dinner meetings.

To donate, please make checks payable to North Greenville University CMSF at P.O. Box 1892 Tigerville, SC 29688. Steve Crouse is available at any time to meet with anyone who is interested in becoming a member of the CMSF organization.
