NGU football to be televised next Saturday

With fall just around the corner, North Greenville University Crusader football is back and ready to take on another year as regular season play begins this Thursday, Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. at Charleston Southern University.
This season NGU football will play at home for five of the 11 regular season games and will play away for the other six.
NGU will host its first home game the following week on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. against Lenoir-Rhyne University which will be televised on My-40 WMYA. Students from the NGU Broadcasting Dept. will also be televising the game.
With My40 sports coming to provide the major equipment for broadcasting, students from a studio operations class will be used as crew.
A student in the studio operations class, Emily Gissendanner, said, “We’ll get real-world experience on what it’s like to work on a live broadcast production.”
Gissendanner, a junior broadcast media major, is currently the station manager for the Vision 48 and also does freelance graphics with My40 on Friday Night Rivals.
“I’ve learned so much from my experience and love watching the show come together when the crew works together,” said Gissendanner.
This will be the fifth time in 10 years that NGU football will be televised and the second time between these two schools. The Crusaders had a 35-27 win over the Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne during the 2011 season.
Associate Athletic Director Micah Sepko said, “It’s a great opportunity to showcase North Greenville University and our mission, as well as gain some positive exposure for our football program.”
“We are extremely excited to have a televised game this season and to work with Jack Connors and the WMYA team,” he added.
