Since doctors diagnosed North Greenville University NGU baseball player Adam Bohogsian with Type 1 diabetes in 2008, he has raised over $30,000 dollars for diabetes research.

The same year  Bohogsian was diagnosed, he organized a group of  friends from his high school to participate in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation walk to raise money for diabetes research.

“I was pretty proactive about it,” Bohogsian said.

JDRF is an international organization that funds research for Type 1 diabetes, an incurable condition that results in the body not producing enough insulin necessary in the digestive process.

Years after his first JDRF walk in 2008, Bohogsian started his own non-profit organization, Team Bogo, to help JDRF raise funds for diabetes research while studying at the University of North Carolina in Greensboro.

Bohogsian’s group for the JDRF walk has grown from his closest family and friends, from about 75 people to over 400.

Bohogsian said, “Whenever someone is really trying to put together something, then its best to show them support — whatever it is.”

As a major part of the fundraising process, Team Bogo sells t-shirts, gym shorts, wristbands and stickers with witty phrases such as “Get Pumped” designed on them to wear at the JDRF walks each year.

Last year, Team Bogo sold over 400 t-shirts for the JDRF fundraiser walk in Greensboro, N.C.

The money made on the merchandise sales is donated directly to the JDRF.

“I don’t plan to ever stop,” Bohogsian said.

Bohogsian is currently getting his Master’s of Business Administration degree at North Greenville University’s Graduate School.
