Write2Ignite! and what two students learned from the event

About 100 participants came together for Write2Ignite at North Greenville University on March 27 and 28 to learn how God can use what they write for His glory.
The conference was held to encourage people who are interested in writing as they were able to attend workshops, meet other writers and learn from editors.
Participants, ranging from middle schoolers to adults, attended several sessions about being published, writing, editing and using writing for business.
Here’s what these NGU students learned from the event.

What made you attend Write2Ignite?

“I want to be a children�s book illustrator, and I was told there were networking opportunities there.”

“One thing I know God has gifted me in is writing. I want to use writing for ministry. I went to see how other people were using it for ministry and to learn how I can write better.”
How will you use what you learned?

“I made a few connections there so hopefully I�ll find a job through it. I want to work in publishing, either assembling books or illustrating books.”

“One thing we learned was how to write for boys and things to do and what to avoid. I could use that in my writing to make sure it appeals to a broader audience. Girls will read what is written for guys but guys won�t read what is written for girls.”
What was one specific thing that impacted you?

“At the beginning of the conference, we had a mini session, and it talked about habits you have to develop in order to be a good write or illustrator. It was inspiring and challenged me to take advantage of the dream that I have. ”

“I got to meet with authors and editors, and they looked over some of my writing. They told me to keep with it and said I had a lot of potential. They encouraged me and told me it was something I can do.”
Would you encourage other students to attend? Why?

“Whether you have any interest in writing or not, I would encourage people to attend because you�re making professional connections and getting your name out there. A lot of people in the conference expected to be other things but are now writers.”

“If someone wants to write in a way that can impact people, then I would very much recommend that they go to meet with other Christian writers who don�t just write to get famous, but write as a platform for ministry.”
