Robert R. Morgan, American writer and award winning novelist is at NGU today to speak to a group of students about Appalachian literature and musical poetry.

Today, award winning author, Robert R. Morgan, came to speak to a group of students in Catherine Sepko’s Appalachian Literature class. The students, who have been studying Morgan’s poems this semester, gained more knowledge on his poems with mountain music themes today in Hamlin Recital Hall. Morgan said he wants students to walk away from his lecture delighting in the reading and viewing poetry, not like a chore, but rather like music or food, as something to enjoy. Morgan visits his home on the Green River in North Carolina every two months and prefers to combine a reading or a lecture of his work with the trip. His best seller is a novel, Gap Creek, about a strong youthful woman who endures tremendous hardships to make sense of the life around her.
