NGU Interim president to be found, before formal presidential search begins

The search for a North Greenville University’s eighth president continues as new and former trustees interview candidates for the interim president position.
Just last month NGU president Jimmy Epting resigned. Since the announcement, trustees have been interviewing several people in search for a candidate to present to the board as potential interim president.
The chosen interim president will carry out an 18-month to two-year term. The interim term will make sure that those selecting the official president will have plenty of time in their decision making process. The group whom will make that decision has not been determined.
Laverne Howell, Director of Public Relations at NGU, said, “a presidential search committee will not be formed until the board of trustees find an interim president.”
The four board members working to find an interim president are David J. Charpia, Ronald K. Edwards, Beverly Knix Hawkins, and Bill Tyler.
Recently, North Greenville announced five trustees appointed by the South Carolina Baptist Convention to serve on the NGU board of trustees from 2015-2019. First term members include D. Rodney Back and Gary Glenn. Returning members include Ronald K. Edwards, David J. Charpia and Melvin Yountz.

A member of the interim search committee, Bill Tyler, stated to the press, “Our goal is to present our selected candidate to the full board by mid-March. We appreciate the prayerful support of the North Greenville community and ask for their continued prayers.”
If you would like to participate in community prayer for the presidential search, a gathering will be held every Tuesday at 7 a.m. in the lobby of Donnan Administration Building.
