State of the union is in shambles

Steven Goransky, Political Writer

There once was a time when a SOTU (State of the Union) address was a serious night filled with patriotism and conviction. Today what we have is a pep rally for people who are being paid, or will be paid soon, to act like they are taking the address seriously.  This has become a self promotion tool on the same level as “Hollyweird’s”  20+ award nights per year where large groups of people get together to pat themselves on the back, while the public sits and watches.

Recently, the Washington Times blurted out: “Mr. Obama has the second-worst record of getting his State of the Union policy requests enacted into law of any president in the last five decades, according to an analysis by two scholars that puts him only above the unelected two-year presidency of Gerald Ford,” but the story is spun from the angle that the poor performance should be blamed on congress, not that the objectives of the current POTUS [President Of The United States] are simply unmanageable.

If you enjoy being manipulated and lied to, the state of the union was the place to be. Newsmax quoted Ken Cuccinell as saying, “The State of the Union Address contained lie after lie after lie, particularly about the economy, There were so many just blatant lies. I mean, just ignoring reality.”

Here is a few top examples of the state of the union claims compared with the harsh realities:

Claim: The economy is now recovered and roaring back.

Reality: The economy and Gross Domestic Product have actually shrunk. This means less work, fewer jobs, fewer companies hiring and less of everything. The Daily Caller stated; “Over the first five years of Obama’s presidency, the U.S. economy grew more slowly than during any five-year period since just after the end of World War II, averaging less than 1.3 percent per year. If we leave out the sharp recession of 1945-46 following World War II, Obama looks even worse, ranking dead last among all presidents since 1932. No other president since the Great Depression has presided over such a steadily poor rate of economic growth during his first five years in office. This slows growth should not be a surprise in light of the policies this administration has pursued.”

Claim: Unemployment is down due to the recovered economy.

Reality: We have the lowest employed population since 1977 under Jimmy Carter, which everyone understood as a huge failure. Zerohedge proclaimed; “Labor Participation Rate Drops To 36 Year Low; Record 92.6 Million Americans Not In Labor Force.”

Claim: Al Qaeda Terrorism is on the run and ISIS is a junior league threat.

Reality: “UK facing worst terror threat since 9/11,” stated Premier Christian radio. Trends in the UK are a testing ground for the United States. The out-of-control terrorism across the UK and Africa are sure to be heading our way, and probably sooner than later.

Claim: The war in Iraq is ended and Pakistan will end soon.

Reality: The BBC reports; “The US-led coalition has launched more than 900 air strikes against Islamic State in Iraq since the campaign began on August, 8th, 2014.”

For that war that was “ended” , it sure seems to keep boiling along. . Greg Hunter of USA Watchdog proclaims; “The Middle East is out of Control”. Trends researcher Gerald Celente predicts; “Crash, depression, currency wars . . . trade wars and then real wars.  That’s what we’re seeing again, The end game is Iran.”

The State of the Union is now closer to a “State of the Undoing.” Many of America’s structures are unraveling in one form or another and our foreign policy is in shambles. We were promised that America would be fundamentally transformed.. and it has.
