NGU senior has a new take on the classic bucket list

Joseph Elledge, a senior Sport Management major at North Greenville University, makes it his goal to accomplish 100 different things in 100 days before he graduates in May.

Elledge has tweeted at The Vision’s Twitter page, @thevisionngu, since March trying to get an interview. He said, “In the spring, The Vision followed me on and I said it would be funny if I got an interview. My friend challenged me to get one.”

Elledge said he has been doing a countdown of 100 different things he can do in 100 days at North Greenville and the interview has been on his list.

The idea for his new take on the bucket list for his senior year came from his freshman year. He completed challenges, such as the cinnamon challenge and a hot wing challenge, his first year in college and wants to do some of them again before he graduates.

Elledge stated, “This is my fourth year here and there’s some stuff I’ve never done and I’m trying to make each day count. I don’t want to take for granted the college life.”

Elledge had a professor who told him college was the only time he would belong to himself. In college, he would not belong to a wife, kids, parents or a job. His professor challenged him to enjoy this time in college because after he received his diploma, he would be entering the real world and have obligations.

Elledge said he tries to do at least one challenge a day. He has gotten through 25 of his challenges so far and has about 80 days left to complete them.

A few of his challenges include going to Pretty Place, getting an interview with The Vision, and not getting a parking ticket the entire semester.

One of his favorite challenges is the milkshake challenge. In this challenge, Elledge’s friends concocted a disgusting milkshake flavor and he had to drink it. He said the milkshake, which was named “Pray for the Rapture,” consisted of prune juice, green peppers, tomatoes, and sardines topped off with whipped cream.

Elledge has not revealed what number one is on his list. He says that everyone will have to wait if they want to find out what it is.

Elledge said it is never to late to start the challenge. He stated, “You can do it freshman year and spread it out over four years if you wanted to.” His advice is to include as many other people in your challenges as possible because it makes it more fun.

Elledge said the challenges depends on the person doing it and that they can do anything they want and have fun with it.

Elledge said he wants to challenge everyone to make up a list of 100 things they want to do before they graduate. He stated, “I’ve really enjoyed my three years here and I want my senior year to be a good one. I want to make sure I go out with a bang.”
