THE RAVEN NEVERMORE

The NFL’s Baltimore Ravens announced they would be terminating the contract of running back Ray Rice. An elevator surveillance camera appears to show a Feb. 15 domestic violence incident between Rice and Janay Palmer. The man identified as the running back is seen punching the woman, knocking her head into a wall and onto the floor. Palmer was rendered completely unconscious from the impact of the blows.

FOURTH AMERICAN WITH EBOLA

A fourth American with Ebola is expected to arrive in the U.S. and will be treated at an Atlanta hospital where two other aid workers successfully recovered from the disease.

WATCHING APPLE

Apple last week launched its new wearable technology Apple Watch. The world has been waiting and waiting. In the 1950’s the comic strip star Dick Tracy first used his walkie talkie  2-way wrist watch.

REALLY LONG MILLIPEDES SEIZED IN U.S. AIRPORT

Last week U.S. customs agriculture specialists  seized 20 foot-long live millipedes in a package marked “toy car model” at San Francisco International Airport. Once it was opened, the huge millipedes were found wriggling away in a mesh bag, along with chunks of soil and paper. Because the package didn’t have the required import permits and was packaged to bypass federal regulations, the shipment has been turned over to the Agriculture Department’s smuggling interdiction office.

SEARCH FOR NY COUPLES’ PLANE

New York couple Laurence and Jane Glazer’s plane is missing after flying 1,700 miles before running out of fuel and slamming into deep waters  14 miles off Port Antonio on Jamaica’s northeast coast. The crew of a Jamaican military plane photographed floating material they believed was consistent with a high-impact debris field, but the plane apparently sunk before it could be recovered.

USA TAKES OFFENSIVE AGAINST ISIS

Sometimes the best defense is a good offense. President Obama last Sunday that the United States will “go on the offensive” against ISIS, Islamic State militants in the Middle East and that he will further outline his in the coming weeks.
